THE CHALLENGE: Aircheck
Earth

Develop an app or platform to crowd-source information for comparing changes in environmental factors, such as temperature, relative humidity, air pollution, with occurrence of symptoms of allergies and respiratory diseases. Create tools for public entry and grading of symptoms, including but not limited to cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, sneezing, nasal obstruction, itchy eyes; and geographic mapping of symptom frequency and intensity. Create a platform for comparison of symptom map with NASA provided data, with visualization options for web and/or smart phone.

Explanation

This motivated us to build a platform to monitor our atmosphere using a device that we created using Arduino, which directs the measurements to a Raspberry Pi server. This data are accessible to the user through a well designed app.
We thought it would be a great idea to propose a platform that contains both, hardware and software.
Hardware is designed in three different ways: static , implemented in a drone and the last one is portable. A static air check station is more of a device that can be placed in different environments. It measures the air parameters and we can monitor them with the proposed app.
A revolutionary idea is to implement the hardware in a drone. The main purpose is to access even the areas that are difficult to collect data for air parameters.
The last idea was to create a portable platform. Anywhere we would like to estimate the air pollution and the way it affects our health, it would be possible. We can do this even by using a smartwatch.
One of the best part of our project was the application we proposed. It is an application created with the idea to be user friendly. A user can register his personal disease historic list, so he can be notified for areas that are dangerous for him. Designed with filters (to search everything according to our worries ) , illustration maps (exact implementation of NASA’s maps according to the parameters we collected from our hardware) , user configuration , real time data monitoring . Another special thing for our software is the fact of us using a colored map, based on intensity of the pollution (like NASA does) to reflect the collected measurements.
Our solution? A platform that takes care for your health.
Not just a solution, but the Solution.
