THE CHALLENGE: Earth Live
Earth

Develop a web tool, mobile device app or add-on for existing apps or websites that leverages NASA imagery and climate data to illustrate the impacts of our changing Earth in areas of interest to you. Some ideas to explore include:

  • Use NASA Earth observations data, social media, smart phones, and Short Message Service (SMS) text phones to collect Earth observations and connect public in local, regional, and national networks to communicate about our changing planet.
  • Examine current natural events curated by NASA’s EONET (Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker) by browsing global historical and near real-time imagery from space.
  • Upload images or other data points demonstrating visible observations and how they compare to satellite data. For example, generating early-warning alerts or validating precipitation rates reported from NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement Mission.
  • Integrate NASA imagery with a mobile assistant to allow for dynamic image generation based on a basic request structure.
Explanation

There are many effects that have with climate changes on affecting especially in the roads development and state of it. Currently there is not a preventive or informative elements in real time. For this application development oriented to the management of risk on roads, this application using open data from NASA

The data provides of the NASA in this moment are of very good spatial resolution because at this is showing posible observe the changes that have the variables of climate and your effect on the roads, in special for the countries where are presented many events of remotion mass.

The application developed for DataSpatial assesses the risks that have on the roads in real time, This system is also fueled by users via a form button assigned to a position with which you can report events and generate alert points. This information is of great importance for engineering projects, developed of roads and construction in general.

On the other hand the application is planned as of free tool use, updated and with unrestricted access. The application allows similarly define alternate paths by damage to roads. Each layer has associated a database showing its own characteristics and is associated by area, thus allowing better analysis by users who use the application in the research and development projects.
