Aeroscape - Flight Delay Predictor Mobile App

THE CHALLENGE: Clear for Take Off
Aeronautics

To comply with security and airline protocol, air travelers should arrive at the airport well in advance of their flight. Without realizing the probability of adverse conditions at the time of the scheduled departure, they may experience inconvenient delays at the airport. Delays can be short and relatively easy to manage, or they can cause long hours of waiting in crowded airports. Flight delays can even cause forced overnight stays at local hotels or inside the terminal. Travelers could benefit from knowing the likelihood of a delay as it could help them prepare for the wait time. Can an app be developed that predicts the impact of weather on airplane departure times?

Explanation

MAIN OBJECTIVE

Inform the passengers if there are any harmful weather conditions BEFORE they go to the airport so that the passengers can prepare a hassle-free longer waiting time for their delayed flight. A lot more convenience.

PROBLEM

Some passengers may experience inconvenient delays at the airport. Forcing them to stay uncomfortable at the airports, or worst case, Book a hotel room nearby.

SOLUTION

Cost-cutting & convenience for the passengers if they will be informed early before their desired flight if there are any problems by creating a Mobile App that they can use every time they fly by entering their travel credentials. (Flight Number, Date of Departure). Then, the app will use it's ability to bind data from the passenger's flight details, advanced weather forecast, & algorithm of Weather-related flight delays.

The app will show the weather informations on the departure airport and the arrival airport. Informations such as if it will have a rain, snow, or thunderstorms on that day. If the weather is fine, the app will prompt to the user to follow the passenger's flight schedule. If the weather turns terrible on the time of the departure or the time of the arrival predicted on the mobile app, the app will suggest to call the airline if their flight is affected or not.
