THE CHALLENGE: Don’t Crash My Drone
Aeronautics

Create an app that will enable small drone operators to know more about specific weather parameters, local terrain and no fly zones within a five-mile radius of their GPS location.

Explanation

DroneCopilot is an application that allows small drone and multi-copter operators to fly safely and avoid crashing their drones.

Amateurs and professionals around the Globe enjoy flying their aerial friends at locations in which many hazards may be present, or specific weather conditions apply. In some regions, certain restrictions/prohibition for drone flight apply. If unaware, the drone operators may even be sanctioned for flying their drones unsafely and in prohibited areas. They may search the internet or ask local authorities about such limitations and/or special rules for drone flight, but it seems that there is no easy solution to collect all needed data and fly safely. Or... does it?

DroneCopilot is the application to put drone operators at ease! Developed for the World Wide Web, it works on (almost) any device an drone operator might have, and presents to him/her important data needed to fly safely, including:

  • Current weather conditions, chance of rain, wind speed and humidity;
  • Airports and restricted flight areas around airports;
  • Power plants locations;
  • Military bases and/or military zones;
  • No-fly areas.

The information is overlaid on a geographic map which shows the terrain, so you can scan the area and determine your safe flight path! There is data for almost every country in the world, so you can be sure that you fly safely all around the world!

The app is laid out in a way to be easy to use and understand. User-friendly interface allows for efficient data presentation for the user and overlays information that clearly point out hazards, warnings and weather parameters.

Now, you can fly safely - trust your DroneCopilot!
