Develop an app or platform to crowd-source information for comparing changes in environmental factors, such as temperature, relative humidity, air pollution, with occurrence of symptoms of allergies and respiratory diseases. Create tools for public entry and grading of symptoms, including but not limited to cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, sneezing, nasal obstruction, itchy eyes; and geographic mapping of symptom frequency and intensity. Create a platform for comparison of symptom map with NASA provided data, with visualization options for web and/or smart phone.
We have build an application to offer real-time data to people with special health conditions, or for general information.
We use data from OpenWeatherMap to show the weather conditions like temperature and humidity. Local Air monitoring stations data from Prishtina (Kosovo) are used for the air components. Everything is measured in real-time and displayed to the user.
Users can take advantage of the notification system to be warned when the air components parameters are above normal, or critical for their health condition. These customized notifications are based on the user's choice from the list of available options. They can be notified on their smart phone, on their wearable, or via SMS.
We have prepared a prototype application, available in Android and iOS. For the future we hope to be able to expand our solution to a Web interface, and increase the number of measuring stations throughout the region. We will be able to retrieve tons of data not only on air pollution, but also data on illnesses caused by it.
By collecting and processing as much data as possible we plan to give statistical data for all areas around the stations. Our solution will come in handy to a large number of people, including those who suffer from diseases related to air pollution, those who do activities in the nature, those who are always with a backpack on, traveling, and for everyone else who is interested in this data.
