MarsVille is a colonization game set, as you can guess, on Mars: while establishing and nurturing your colony, you will learn what is actually needed to support life on the Red Planet.
Please keep in mind that the solution proposed was developed during a 30ish hours non-stop hackathon: only a subset of the intended features has actually been implemented (some of which are displayed in the presentation video).
Documents provided by NASA (as well as some others from different sources) have been used to identify and study the challenges to be overcome when colonizing Mars. All items presented in the videogame have been introduced following a fairly thorough analysis.
