Bubblour

THE CHALLENGE: Space Recreation
Journey to Mars

There is a great deal of interest from national space agencies to go to the Moon and Mars. ESA wants to go to the Moon and establish a village there. NASA wants to go to Mars. Astronauts and Cosmonauts from all over the world are already living aboard the ISS. What can they do in their free time? It can’t be all about reading books or game play on computers. Think of new sports or games that could take into account the low gravity (e.g. a space lacrosse game, extreme basketball). What about real or virtual experiences involving the Apollo 11 landing site on the Moon? Or following the paths of Sojourner, Spirit or Curiosity on Mars using a form of cross-country skiing? Think of new ways for to astronauts to use their free time. To present your results develop an app that makes use of virtual reality tools.

Explanation

Bubblour is a game that can be played in space using water, some color pigments filled in syringes, and discs coated with silicone. Bubblour is fun, energy and strategy. The game is played between two teams each having 3 players. Each player has a syringe filled with a color pigment, and a silicone coated disc. For one team the pigments in syringes will be of colors blue, red and green and for the other team the colors are cyan, magenta and yellow. As the game starts the players will be standing around a non-physical circular boundary and there will be water bubbles floating inside the boundary. The players are allowed to fire the pigment that they have to the floating bubbles and also change the direction of the floating bubbles using the silicone disc that they have with them (only as the bubble reach the boundary). As per the principle of combination of colors new when different pigments are fired to the same bubble they form new colors. The final aim for the red-green-blue team is to form a white bubble and for the cyan-magenta- yellow team to form a black bubble. The first to do wins. So a team must plan strategies to reach their goal fast and also to prevent the other team from doing so. So that's the wonderful cool game for the people in space.
