Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.
We aim to produce an augmented reality application for children so they can visually find the moon over a world map with simple markers. It should also allow children to learn some fun facts, information, view images coming mainly from the NASA. We try to appeal to children by using a child 'design and feeling' in the application. We really think that making children interested about astronomy is important, regardless of the the child's career choice. We certainly would have love to have had something like this back when we were children.
