Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.
We developed a different interactive and educative application, made for children, specially with hearing deficiency, that with their smartphones or tablets could find the moon in every moment of the day from anywhere. They also could find some actual information about the moon, learn curious information, look some pictures and videos of the moon, read myths and legends in different cultures around the world and some homemade experiments to make in the school or the house. All the non-graphical material is translated to Colombian sign language. The information can be added to favorites and could be shared in social networks or email it to their parents.
In the future, this application will grow with the child, unlocking new and more technical information and changing the visual interface.
One of the challenges of the “Lunáticos” team is to accede to the information of others natural satellites in the solar system, in order to increase the knowledge in a very didactic way. Also is intended to improve the experience in the moon view, allowing to explore it.
