Moon Finder received a People's Choice Nomination.
Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.
Our android application intends to familiarize the Moon and the universe to the kids in a very convenient way. One of the main objectives of this app is it to track the Moon anytime from any place. We have the idea to develop two kinds of tracking: real time tracking and circular type tracking. These tracking systems can help the young users to know the phases and exact position of the Moon from earth. Kids will be able to track the Moon even if the Moon stays below the horizon. This application will have a gallery feature where pictures, videos, stories and songs about Moon will be stored. Another special feature is gaming option; we’ll develop interactive games such as Moon race, Moon gravity breaker, mission to the Moon and Moon quiz. The parental option will also be included as the target users of our app are mostly children and through this option they can share their favorite items in the social media with their friends. There will be a notification system. It will provide the users with the notification about "what happened this day" about the Moon. We have ideas on future development of our app like controlling digital telescope through the app and take photos instantly with a saving option and share it in the social media.
