Moon Finder

THE CHALLENGE: Book it to the Moon
Solar System

Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.

Explanation

The application focuses on making it ease for childhren to know more about moon and related information. It aims to enchance curiousity in them for outer space. With easy UI, attractive features and working, childhren will surely be fascianted by it.

In the application, I tried to bind children by creating catchy transformation of moon on a regular basis. It can be acheived by pressing next button for next couple of days, and it shows its transformation. Similarly there is a previous button for going back. Intrigued by changing images of moon, they will skip on the data and try to understand. Also, it has a compass, which shows the current position of moon w.r.t to our location and it changes its angle on the compass as the location changes. Since that would be the easy way to make them understand the data as they themselves are motivated towards it. Along with that, to keep them exploiting about the space, I have included few stories and youtube videos to make it interactive.

Besides I wanted to add an option to track an option for knowing the weather condition in their cities, but I wasn't able to do it, till the end of the hackathon.

So overall I hope this app will totally be of handy to children.

Resources Used

I have used youtube videos, random stories from net. Also, for the weather data I am using openweatherapi data.
