Moon Landing

THE CHALLENGE: Book it to the Moon
Solar System

Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.

Explanation

An interactive journey-based children's app that lets the user track the moon through GPS, learn about what's currently happening with the moon through trivia quizzes (updated as the phases change) based on news and articles , and share trivia and photos/videos the user took and saved from NASA's gallery on social media (parental control included). The avatar levels up (EXP points from trivia and photos or videos taken, moon tracking) and is given the chance to unlock new stories. The stories are based on moon stories from around the world so that the child can learn about different cultures' take on the moon. The stories are similar to pop up books and allow interactivity. Users can add friends based on their social media/e-mail accounts, view their stats and save their trivia. Parental control is turned on for children below 10, and the parent will get e-mails regarding their child's activity.
