THE CHALLENGE: Book it to the Moon

Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.

Explanation

An android application that educates children about the phases of the Moon. This application is suitable for school uses to make a fun learning environment. The application make use of Google Cardboard and Myo Armband to provide an immersive and interactive learning experience for children. The application indirectly makes the kids to use different senses such as sight, sound and touch(gestures) which enhances their memory of the lesson.

What is Myo and its application?

Myo Armband is worn on the forearm to get the reading of the muscle activity. It can detect five different gestures such as fist, wave in, wave out, fingers spread and double tap. The gestures are used to interact with the virtual world. In the app, user can move in the virtual world by performing 'wave in' and 'wave out'. Both of the gestures can be used to select buttons (the month and year) and double tap to click the buttons. To call the menu, user will need to place their hand upward and perform fist gesture (action of pulling a string).
