To The Moon - Interactive Edutainment App received a Global Nomination.
Develop an interactive app for children that uses smart phone and tablet sensory to locate the Moon (any time of the day, even below horizon), which unlocks current lunar data (phase, distance, etc), and then presents the user options for reading a "Moon" related story, view space agency photos and videos, and/or fun facts about the Moon. The goal of this challenge is edutainment and raising awareness about lunar missions around the world.
This apps allows small children to locate the position of the moon either in day or night time. They have to match the device's horizontal and vertical component to the moon's position and if the device points the moon , the child is presented with a option to read a story related to moon. The story could be either a video or text base. He can also Share those stories on Whatsapp.
Then the next option allows them to visit the NASA interactive website to gain information regarding lunar data and NASA Project. They can also view pictures and videos and learn in an interactive way.
Then we have used a Open Source Project by Google , which allows the children to locate the celestial bodies and constellations in a virtual reality environment.
Further there is a small easy interactive quiz for the children where they can play online and test their knowledge.
Everything used is open source and our project is hosted on github.com
