Astronaut Bootcamp 4 to 7

Space Station

Using multimedia resources found online, develop a virtual experience that would allow someone to experience a past or upcoming rocket launch as if they were observing it from a few miles away (i.e. a close, but safe distance from the launch pad). If possible, convey the impact that local/global/space weather has on a launch.

Explanation

What we wanted to do was to create an app that provided a context for goal setting and achievements for children 4-7, using the sound and visuals from both the cockpit and mission control as a motivational tool.

As a property, this full solution would include an web & mobile app, a book, a watch (wearable technology) along with badges, stickers and other rewards to keep children engaged with STEM./STEAM education, & NOLS values for creating leadership skills.

Specifically - we're trying to simulate the excitement & experience from the cockpit and mission control (two POV's) depending on the choice of the child.

Resources Used

NASA and NOLS websites, Google Documents, Dr. Kate Stone technologies, NASA sound files, and mentorships from astronaut Doug Wheelock and NASA and JPL professionals.
