Using multimedia resources found online, develop a virtual experience that would allow someone to experience a past or upcoming rocket launch as if they were observing it from a few miles away (i.e. a close, but safe distance from the launch pad). If possible, convey the impact that local/global/space weather has on a launch.

Explanation

The challenge is to create a solution to allow someone to experience a rocket launch, we have provided more. Astronaut is a unique profession in the world. People would like to experience the details from rocket launching to the astronaut life however this is an impossible mission for a common person. To experience the astronaut’s life, we have to go through those long trainings and you also need to be not only strong in physically and mentally but also well equipped with Knowledge. It is time consuming and expensive process. Traditional method of viewing Launch or space modules are online or tv where it’s not immersive at all.

The “VAR Space Onboard” allow user to virtually experience from rocket launch, the space till the astronaut’s life inside ISS module such as kibo, columbus, harmony and etc. For example, from the comfort of your home or anywhere you are.

We adopted the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies to bring you to a new level of experience. In the app, the ISS image is being scanned to start the holo visualization of the modules. Different virtual buttons are available for selection using eye gaze where upon activation the 360 video of the corresponding space experience can be view through the Google Cardboard.

VAR Space Onboard equipped with the advance technology of VR, AR, mobile, 360 video and Google Cardboard. With the more than 1 million sold of the Cardborad, VAR Space Onboard is a cheap and affordable solution to let's all the people to experience the life of the astronaut inside the ISS or Space and feeling of the rocket launch.


The VAR Space Onboard will be further improved by providing extra function such as

  • Receive the coming event related to the topic (Talk by Astronaut, Open day from space agency and etc)
  • Get the live feedbacks or video from the astronaut living in space and the future launch.
  • Make the Holo scene more interactive, not just control via gaze but allow user grab the 3D model using hand and more information will be showed while user grabed it.
  • The benefit of virtual reality and augmented reality in education have been proven by the academic researcher. The 3D view or stereoscopic experience can tap inside the brain of people thus people could easily recall the information. AR/VR technology able to attract the student to use the app especially kids. Thus an education module for kid will be added. For example, different image target will show the details information of different ISS module such as the 3D model of the module, when is make, who make it, when is docked to the ISS and etc.
