Every space traveler – even the robotic ones – should feel? their very best during the journey, infused with the very best data and technology available. Earthlings can follow suit. Design a space data-tech-fashion wearable in the form of clothing or accessories that will collect or distribute data and technology in the following categories:
Design for Interconnectivity (staying more connected to team, community, and tools)
Design for Health (biometrics, physical and emotional health, and/or environmental alerts)
Design for Entertainment (sights, sounds, music, activity)
AstroTech the smart band is built on LilyPad Arduino running on an8 MHz atmega328 micro controller that is widely used for e-textiles and wearables' projects. A set of sensors are used to provide early warnings for unhealthy environmental factors to the astronaut such as air quality, temperature, pressure and humidity. Biomedical sensors are to be used to maintain the astronaut both emotional and physical health such as heart rate blood pressure, skin response sensors
A desktop Windows 10 (Universal Windows Platform) UWP application is developed to acquire all data coming from the band, visualize the data to the astronaut, monitor the astronaut's vital information, communicate with other devices, transmit the astronaut’s data over Wi-Fi connection as a TCP packet to the spacecraft dashboard station and send immediate SOS messages in case of danger to all connected devices.
Powering the system is done using an external portable power bank.
