Have you ever wanted a rocket pack to soar amongst the sky? Now you can … on Mars… Gravity is less, atmospheric density is less, and the vistas are breathtaking. So come to Mars...
Buck Rogers aside, Mars is an interesting environment for out-of-this-world mobility options for an explorer. This challenge asks for the definition of a conceptual mobility solution to allow an astronaut to easily and rapidly explore Mars including overcoming obstacles such as cliffs, ravines and other difficult terrain. The solution should be person-portable and any means or source of propulsion be locally produced.
This challenge can be answered by:
using CO2 that found in more than 95% in Mars’ atmosphere, we can collect the CO2 gas from the atmosphere using a compressor, this gas will pass through an Axial compressor that will compress the gas regarding not to transfer the gas to solid so we keep it under constant pressure less than 1 bar in order not to transfer the CO2 gas to dry ice, after passing through the axial compressor the output compressed gas has high Kinetic energy that will lift up the jet pack, these highly energy gas will go out from the bag through a small hall which raise the pressure more and more.
