Welcome to the NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2016 in Napoli!

This is an exciting two-day global event that connects diverse and dynamic community of innovators working together for helping some of the most pressing challenges on Earth and Space. We invite everyone who have passion to know about Earth and Space and have any interesting idea to work with a team of interdisciplinary group on various global challenges. Join us during the weekend on 23rd and 24th of April 2016!

Local organizer:

• U.S. Consulate General to Southern Italy
• Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment (IREA-CNR)

Registration: It is absolutely FREE and OPEN to all groups who can contribute to solve the challenges i.e., from students, engineers, entrepreneurs, developers, designers to individuals interested in science and technology.

Challenge Selection: East participant must select a challenge from the offered contests in https://2016.spaceappschallenge.org/challenges. The participants, who choose the same project, will either form a team and can start work early on their project before the event or they can form a group on the day of event.

Award:

• Local judging: Two teams will be awarded as local winners, based on the presentation of their activities on Sunday afternoon. The selected teams will be nominated for the global judging.
• Global judging: NASA will select winners in each of the five finalist categories: Best Use of Data, Best Use of Hardware, Best Mission Concept, Galactic Impact and Most Inspirational.
• In addition, one People's Choice will be announced on the Space Apps Event.

Information:

• Bring your laptop for the event.
• Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.
• Participants have to arrange their own accommodation.

Program:

• A press conference will be held on 21st of April, Thursday morning 10:30 am, at the University premises.
• Space Apps event will start on Saturday morning and close on Sunday evening.
