To develop app that enables these hunters to make scientifically informed decisions that reduce their vulnerability to environmental hazards. This tool will:

• Create a local record of climate change;
• Draw attention to problems in the community related to climate change;
• Increase cross-cultural communication among scientists and the community; and
• Support efforts of language revitalization and transfer of intergenerational knowledge.

BAGROUND INFORMATION

Traditional Alaskan hunting cultures rely in part on their tradition of hunting and gathering for their sustenance, often trekking over vast areas of sea-ice, where they are exposed to potential dangers. These hunters must remain constantly vigilant for changes in ice, weather, and ocean currents. Visibility can be very poor and change within seconds. Even experienced hunters can get disorientated out on the ice. Pressure ridges, cracks, and holes in the ice create hazards.

Our app is developed to aid the hunters in making informed decisions to reduce their vulnerability to environmental hazards by;

• Creating local record of climate change

THE APPS RELEVANCE AND IMPACT TO THE PEOLE

With this app, hunters will be able to maneuver easily, for example it will alert them if they are sailing to places with fog or hunting in localities with icebergs, and show the best route to follow.

Tech hunter will make communication between hunters, scientists and other local community members such that they can chat and share experiences and the weather conditions like level of temperatures.

This idea will improve the people’s way of living. It will also increase the numbers of hunters since they are guaranteed of safety. This will increase supply hunting ‘goods’ that will improve the economy of the community. Communication between

PROBLEM STATEMENT

This app can be used mostly in the polar parts of the earth where weather conditions change suddenly impairing operations of the inhabitants of the areas.

Due to the above, Tech Hunter increases efficiency of the people’s activities and hence reduces accidents. Therefore, Deaths of hunters and other community members are also reduced.

Some of the problems the app takes care of are;

Poor weather predictions: The hunters most of the time are unprepared for the sudden changes in weather but with the app they are warned before hand of impending adverse weather conditions together with pointers on how best to prepare for them.

Accidents: There is usually delayed response incase of accidents due to the fact that locating the place where the accidents have occurred is difficult. With the apps GPS capabilities this accidents could be attended faster.
